Tony R. Wells Foundation
The Social Innovation Initiative is funded through the Social Venture Fund with the Tony R. Wells Foundation.
The Wells Foundation is a private family foundation created in 2001 to provide social entrepreneurship and leadership development grants to nonprofit organizations. Their mission is to “Create Value for the community by developing stronger nonprofit leaders and investing in the next generation of social innovations.”
The foundation is a member of Grantmakers for Effective Organizations and Wells is a Kellogg Executive Scholar in Nonprofit Management at Northwestern University. He currently serves on the boards of Goodwill Columbus, A Kid Again, Community Research Partners, GroundWork group and the Center of Entrepreneurship at Fisher College of Business. He was nominated for the "Nonprofit Director of the Year" Award by the National Association of Corporate Directors in 2008.
