Dr. Peter Rogers

Social Innovation and Commercialization
Dr. Rogers brings his 30 years of industrial experience leading diverse international teams in product commercialization to the College of Engineering.
As a new faculty member, he works in the Engineering Education Innovation Center to help enhance educational programs. He has created and leads a program where multidisciplinary design teams of business students, industrial designers, and engineering students work on company-sponsored projects to help companies be more competitive while gaining unique experiential learning opportunities. Expanding on that concept, Rogers has recently helped develop the Social Innovation and Commercialization program and leads the next generation of socially-minded student entrepreneurs to define, design, and commercialize products that help people with disabilities increase their level of independence and provide an alternative revenue source for non-profit organizations.
Sharon Alvarez

Professor Alvarez's current research focus is on entrepreneurial theory, high technology alliances between entrepreneurship firms and larger established firms. She has published in Academy of Management Executive, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Management, Human Resource Management Journal, and Journal of Management Sciences. Alvarez is on the editorial boards of Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Small Business Economics and Human Resource Management Review. Her work experience includes such companies as Hiram Walker, LTD., Celsius Energy, and Texaco Inc. Alvarez has started and owned a small business and has served on the board of directors for small businesses. She also consults in the biotechnology industry.
Judy Tansky

Her research has appeared in numerous professional journals, including Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Human Resource Management Journal, Human Resource Development Quarterly, Canadian Journal of Administrative Sciences, Perspectives on Work and The Labor Law Journal. Tansky was co-editor for a special edition of Human Resource Management Journal on “Human Resource Management in SMEs (small and medium enterprises): A call for more research,and was co-editor of a book to be published in the next year that is a result of a conference held at Ohio State: Managing the Growing Firm. Additionally, Tansky currently serves as associate editor of Human Resource Management Journal. She has had several monographs published by the Sar Levitan Center for Social Policy Studies, and several book chapters, and has written a white paper for the Society for Human Resource Management based on research about the human resource practices of firms with fewer than 500 employees.

Geoffrey Kistruck

Geoffrey M. Kistruck, assistant professor of international business, research has received three best paper awards at the annual meetings of the Academy of Management and the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada. Expertise includes Social Entrepreneurship, Emerging Markets and Corporate Governance.
Kistruck also spent more than six years in various private-sector roles, including corporate secretary and vice president of a publicly traded Canadian company.

John Merrill

As part of the Engineering Education Innovation Center, directs the First Year Engineering Program which serves approximately 1800 students annually in courses organized to ensure student success through rigorous academics in a team-based environment. Responsibilities include operations, faculty, recruiting, curriculum management, student retention, and program assessment. He has made frequent presentations at conferences held by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) and its affiliate conference, Frontiers in Education (FIE). He is part of the research team that was recently awarded an NSF grant to study strategies for maximizing success among students with learning disabilities. Dr. Merrill currently serves as an advisor for Engineers for Community Service (ECOS), a student-run organization at Ohio State. He teaches a Service-Learning course for engineering students, which also involves traveling to Honduras with his students over Spring Break to implement projects on behalf of rural orphanage. He is a two-time recipient of the College of Engineering's Boyer Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Michael Camp

S. Michael Camp, Academic Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship , designer of the Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization (TEC) Academy and the TEC Institute, won the 2009 Olympus Innovation Award for his work at Ohio State University, where he trains business and science students in technology commercialization and entrepreneurship.
Camp's research interests focus on the performance of new ventures and the regional economic impact of innovation and entrepreneurship. He has published articles in leading journals including Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Executive, and Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice. Throughout his research career, including five years at the world's leading foundation in the advancement of entrepreneurship, Camp has directed or led various national and global programmatic research initiatives. Some of these include the Innovation-Entrepreneurship NEXUS, the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, the Panel Study for Entrepreneurial Dynamics, the Annual Survey of Innovative Practices, and the Kauffman Financial Benchmarking System. In 2002, he co-edited a book entitled, Strategic Entrepreneurship.
